Do I supply my own tiles? How working with a tiler works

Yes — with TLS Tiling you supply the tiles and we fit them. You choose and buy exactly the tile you want from any supplier, and we handle preparation, setting out, tiling and grouting. It keeps the choice in your hands and keeps our quote to the work we actually carry out.

Why does the customer supply the tiles?

Because it is your room and your taste, and because tile choice is the part of the job that is genuinely personal. It also keeps pricing simple and transparent: you see what the tiles cost from the supplier, and our quote covers the tiling only, with no markup hidden in the middle.

How do I know how many tiles to order?

Measure the area to be tiled and add roughly ten per cent for cuts and breakages, or more for herringbone, chevron and patterned layouts. Send us the measurements before you order and we will sanity-check the quantity, because running short mid-job risks a batch mismatch.

What should I order besides the tiles?

Easy things to forget when you place the order:

  • Trims and edging profiles in a matching finish.
  • Any matching skirting, step or border pieces.
  • Enough tile from one batch, plus a few spares kept back for repairs.
  • Sealer if the tile is natural stone or another porous material.
  • Confirmation the tile is suitable for the surface — wall, floor or wet area.

When should the tiles be delivered?

Have the tiles on site before the tiling days start, stored flat, dry and somewhere out of the way. Deliveries that arrive mid-job stop the work, and damaged pallets are much easier to sort out when there are still days in hand before tiling begins.

What does TLS Tiling include, and what isn't included?

We include surface preparation, priming, tanking where needed, setting out, cutting, tiling, grouting and silicone, and we leave the site clean. We do not carry out plumbing, electrics or sanitaryware fitting, we do not take on full bathroom installations, and we do not supply or source tiles.

What happens if a tile breaks during the job?

A small number of breakages and cuts is normal on any tiling job, which is why the ten per cent extra matters. If something goes wrong beyond the usual, we tell you straight away rather than at the end, so you can order more from the same batch.

How does the job actually run from first message to finish?

You send photos, rough measurements and your postcode; we send a free, no-obligation quote for the tiling. If you go ahead, we agree dates, you get the tiles delivered, and one tiler carries out the work from preparation through to grouting. The person who quotes the job is the person who tiles it.
